THE PASSING OF SALLY

I heard death came easy
You were never one to fight
Remembering  when you loved me
Upon that sweet summer night.

They tell me the years were cruel
Lined your face and dimmed your eyes
But we loved upon that summer night
Laughter under darkened skies.

I still recall that easy smile
Moonlight on your face
Escaping from the bar room brawl
Your tears and our haste.

So many years passed without a word
Never again our eyes to meet
Now its too late I can recall
Our laughter on that street.
