Bridge Building

BRIDGE BUILDING
Buildeth thou a bridge, my friend?
‘Tis no easy task
For many a man, far better than I
Did not these questions ask
Wherefore my friend, do you need this bridge?
And where, pray tell, shall it lead?
Shall it serve purpose to beauty alone
As frail as a summer\'s breeze?
Or shall its lot be baser still?
Shall it be staid and strong?
Germaine to Father Time himself
Shall it for travelers be?
Didst thou look at yonder bank?
And didst thou look within?
‘Pon which bank shall the burden press?
‘Pon which shall the fetters be?
