Autumnal Witherings

Where gentle sways will loan dismays to ebonies decay

I’ll sit and watch my life unfold in tussled feuds of grey

A backward glance to leaves that dance in crimson reds and browns

shall coat the pavement seamlessly in textured orange gowns

Beside the veins of artful gains that sewed themselves to bark

from seasonal occurrences that blossomed in the dark

I lift my head and slowly tread this multicoloured street

Defining all that’s changeable concluded in defeat

Though Mother Nature pushes on and strongly undermines

there’s power to redeem yourself when courage intertwines

Immerse yourself in falling leaves and sleeves that bleed the heart

For even in the clasps of time there’s always space to start

When yearly span propels the plan for resurrections fate

Be humble in the way you act and softly integrate

For there’s a world outside your door imploring you to try

A branch of simple reasoning uplifted to the sky

Where gentle sways repel the days my body needs to rest

I’ll sit and watch my life unfold where autumn liked me best

A backward glance to leaves that dance throughout my troubled past

Reminding me instinctively that nothing’s built to last
