To my sister and I
You were our dad
Too young were we to know
You were the best friend we had
But to all who knew you well
You were known as Wes
It took all our lives to learn
You were the very best
There are those who live without regrets
But in one truth you can trust
The older we get we learn
Regrets live in all of us
If I could turn back
The pages of time
I’d go back to my youth
To treasured memories of mine
I’d see you in a new light
You were a bright shining star
I’d have realized then
Just how special you are
A father’s love in disguise
All the things you did for us
Rest assured the truth we now know
Not lost to rust
But all I can do now
Now that you’re gone
Is to tell you how proud I am
To be your only son
So, I thank you dad
For all you are to me
My eyes now wide open
The best dad ever I now see
