Well today is the day,
I have reached seventy five,
Seventy five years since that day,
Since that day I was born
Three quarters of a century ago..
In all those years I have had a good life,
Those forty seven years and one month
Working my heart out
And enjoying my working life.
Nearly forty years with my wife
Until that dreaded dementia took her,
Took her a few years ago.
And now with my lover
With a love so strong.
I have had a good life
And intend to keep it that way
For eternity and beyond.
