SHIPTONS CAVE

A child made a wish
At Mother Shiptons cave
Long, long ago
Believing in magic
Some form of justice
How naive is childhood
Wishing her father
Would survive disease.

Happy that its promise
Would be fulfilled
Returning home to find
The illness stayed
The memory still remains
Unlike her father who died
Like the sun that still shines.
Upon that wishing cave.
