Vermin advice

Clawing its way through the drain pipes of my mind,
The rat emerges from its nest,
Pattering feet and heart,
Writhing into my mouth,
Black oil oozing in its wake,

Liquid beady eyes blink through mine,
Spying the predator endangering us,
A wild animal,
Her pointed canines gnashing feral sentences,
She’s a girl my age,
But dangerous nevertheless,

Vermin advice chews at my tongue,
Molding words into poison,
An airborne bubonic plague,
Spitting venom,
I’ve tainted the beast,
Infection crumbling her leathery exterior,

Satisfied, my mentor twitches,
I’ve carried out its dark legacy,
Spreading diseased secrets,
Late Middle Ages arise,
