Babble On
As she babbles on, she writes a song
about how her lover said, “So long.”
It’s a broken-hearted melody
filled with tears and melancholy.
She wrote a sad song that cries the blues
for it’s her dulcet nature to lose.
She’s like a Shakespearean fool
who breaks none of the rules.
Everybody’s walking past her.
She’ll soon be out to pasture
with nothing to gain but the weight
of a heart that falls when it’s too late.
Her lover’s gone. She writes a song.
