Meet Baker. Baker is Brody’s grandfather. He is a retired plumber. He had planned to pass down his business but Brody wanted no part of it; he quickly became a runner. Baker knows that there’s nothing spectacular about his chosen path. It requires mechanical skills though that Brody seems to have. But as the story goes children choose for themselves. He respects his grandsons decision in spite of himself. Baker just can’t see some Joe Shmoe running this place; he rather keep it in the family; keep the familiar face. So for now it’s run by Baker’s best friend; but soon he too will be retiring. Baker lost his wife shortly after he retired; angry he was especially at Alzheimer’s. Beatrice was his high school sweetheart; married for forty years; watching her forget her whole life with him brought him to many tears. Thank God for Birdie and her team of caregivers; til this day he feels blessed to have met her. Birdie was there right up until the end. He’s lucky to have in her his best friend. What’s in store for these new characters of mine? Hopefully you’ll come found out next time!
