White Blanket

Kids make loud alarms,

they’re caught in the act,

reaching for the cookie jars,

their parents do react,

but as the curtains wave,

a white blanket can be seen,

thus, becomes the maestro,

of all their joyous screams,

everyone’s in the cold,

so, fleeces are put on,

some “alphas” they go bald,

jacked Santas sing their song,

makeshift sleds are made,

babes on TV trays,

no heart seems to shiver,

such beautiful displays,

so welcome solace is,

after recent sour years,

where things made their miss,

and brought about the tears,

as snowball fights endure,

those horrid things do fall,

in a world apart, that still remains,

old errs, still appal,

then the Sun and rain arrive,

to take white blanket home,

they keep memories alive,

by scrolling down their phone,

where smiles are the warmth,

and community is the strength,

an example, that’s to warn,

all those who make contempt.
