Adam\'s Belly Button

Adam in the garden, before the fall,
Was made from dust and stood ten cubits tall.
He did not eat meat, not lamb nor mutton,
Sustenance came through his belly button.

He had a snakelike umbilical cord,
Connected from his centre by the LORD,
Into the placenta, the tree of life.
From the womb of his rib he grew his wife.

It is not good for man to be alone,
Now flesh of my flesh is bone of my bone.
Also growing in Eden primeval:
The tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Fruit became sin as it hung from this tree,
Once he ate it man was no longer free.
Cast out of the garden, the cord was cut,
Leaving the navel on Adam\'s gut.
