Accidental Poet

Small Town Boy

Just south of Boston

In a small seaside town

Over the ocean the Sun came up

To the west it went down

And in this small town

There lived a young boy

Mystified by the stars

Fun loving but also coy

Growing up curious

Always in search of answers

From insistence of questions

Of life’s many dancers

Occasionally this boy

Pondered where life might take him

To the skies on silver wings

Or lands of spontaneous whim

Fast forward many years

A man of poetry

Writing of various branches

On life’s poetic tree

Now retired from work

Time upon his hands

Reflecting on life

Through poetry he understands

He looks upon life

With new found eyes

The wag of a dog’s tail

And the wonder of starlit skies

And in that rear view mirror

He remembers love

How one young girl

Was all he dreamed of

His life a collage

Like pages in a book

Page after page

A reminiscing look
