Imagine Me

Imagine for a minute,

That you are me - the version I pretend to be.

Imagine yourself in my place.

See yourself with choppy hair and a painted face.

See yourself with smile-lined lips and widened hips.

Imagine, for a second, a chest bigger than your stomach -

A chest and stomach fighting for becoming “your most hated”.

Both are lined, stretch-marked and hair,

Wishing only one was “meant to be”.

Imagine pretending, for the sake of your life;

Pretending to be someone that you\'re not,

Only because it\'s the only way to survive in this home.

Imagine you are me, someone pretending their entire life.

Imagine a smaller you, hiding inside yourself,

A tiny version of the person you feel inside -

A tiny version of the person you\'re meant to be.

Imagine that you are me.

That your hair is choppy from strain and lack of care.

That your face is freckled and acne paired.

That your body is lined with marks devised by your own hands.

That your existence hides behind fragile lies,

Where the only time you can exist is when you\'re destroying yourself;

Destroying the version you pretend to be.

Imagine, for a second, the person you never learned to be,

And drown yourself in the waves of his misery.
