A snowy day, a morning walk
And pray, what did I see?
A wind blown shape upon the road
Right there ahead of me
It looked just like a little ghost
So I thought I’d have some fun
I bent to give it eyes and mouth
And smiled when I was done
As I turned to walk away
I though I heard a sound
The morning, cold and silent
There was no one else around
And as I stood in wonderment
The little ghost did speak
A tiny voice so thin and soft
I mistook it for a squeak
As I listened carefully
Words began to form
Could this be real, or just a dream
My thoughts began to swarm
Perhaps I should walk on
Pay the little ghost no mind
After all it’s just a fantasy
Or so I was inclined
“Did you put me here”, she asked
“How did I come to be
On this cold and snowy day
Would you like to play with me”
Then her little mouth
Became a great big smile
\"Will you keep me company
If only for a while\"
So the little ghost and I
Spent some time that day
Sharing rhymes and riddles
As the time just slipped away
The sun crept higher in the sky
And warmed the road below
Her little form began to fade
The time had come to go
As I continued down the road
I slowly turned to see
The little ghost, a shadow now
Was looking back at me
And as I walked I thought of this
That life is brief you know
A little stain upon the earth
Until it’s time to go
