Duty to the Sea

It is my duty to the sea,

To protect and serve

The ways in order to save.

It is my duty to the people

And those close to me,

Tasked with a mission.

One full of loneliness,

Pain, but honor.

Today marks 1840 days

Since I last saw you.

1840 days, 3 hours, and 37 minutes.

I remember it well,

Twenty years from this exact moment

I saw you on the swing set.

Your chubby little legs couldn\'t reach the floor.

You were so frustrated but determined.

I wanted to help, but you insisted.

So I stayed, until you finally did it.

We were so young

As we grew older,

I knew you were the one

The moment my eyes laid upon yours.

Forever trapped in yours.

Your smile, laughter, your being,

Brought a new life to me.

Forever yours to take.

Till the day I left

The task I had to uphold,

The pain of leaving you

With uncertainty.

The day you cried

While I held you.

I promise, I said.

Never letting go,

Never saying goodbye,

But see you later.

Remember that photo booth

You practically begged me

To take some photos with you.

You lost all the photos after we went out to dinner.

I have a secret,

I still have one.

I look at it everyday

Since I left.

I’m sorry for lying,

For saying goodbye.

We promised,

I promised.

But now I can’t keep it.

Goodbye my Forever.

My love, till we reunite.
