I sit here in my lifeguard chair
Watching those with sagging skin and faces full of wrinkles
Realizing, we\'re not all that different
The group of women who laugh as they walk
The patrons who swim back and forth in a never-ending loop
Their eyes crinkle as they walk by
Teeth shining as they say \"good morning\"
I suppose it is a good morning
They remind me that there is joy in longevity
Joy to be found all around
I used to be afraid of getting old
Of deaths imminent knock at my door
I still am
But at least I know being old isn\'t much different than being young
