Walking through the park
I noticed a girl on a park bench
A melancholy look upon her face
Just a hint of hidden fence
Needing someone to listen
But too reserved to share her grief
For fear of insensitive responses
Denying any relief
So, she sits there
Held captive in her sorrow
Too distraught to know what to do
Unable to see a brighter tomorrow
Feeling her pain
I sat beside her
Not a word spoken
I gently embraced her
Some tears later
She suddenly moved
Getting up from the bench
In her eyes I saw her say “thank you”
