CAPTIVITY

\"Captivity\"

I am trapped in a cage of my own making,

A prison of my own design,

It\'s a prison without bars,

A sentence without crime,

A sorrow without end; a heart without rhyme.

I sit and stare at the world beyond,

But I cannot reach it for I am bound.

My days are long and my nights are cold,

My soul is heavy and my heart is old.

My heart yearns for freedom and light,

But my body is held in a vice-like grip.

I am a captive of my own regrets,

My chains are tight and my sorrows set.

I long to break free to fly into the sky,

But my wings are clipped and I cannot fly.

I long to be free to feel the sun\'s warmth,

But my soul is trapped in this dark and lonely storm.

My hope is fading,

As I sit and wait for a freedom that may never come,

I sit and weep as the days pass by,

A captive of my own regrets until the day I die.

I am alone,

In this dark and dreary place,

With nothing but my sorrow,

And the echo of my face.
