A Man And His Cigarette

Your music is foggy

From all of the smoke,

I dance to your arrival

You have a lot of spark

When you light up your match--

The dirtiest confession comes from your soul

For a man loves powerful changes

And powerful sex aligns

Between a man and his cigarette

No one can get in the way

And I start to roam

In the fog of the moment

Who dares come between a man and his craze?

I often wonder

About the mystery of the cigarette,

What does it entail?

And why is it so addicting?

For I\'d rather be dead

Than come between a man and his cigarette

For an after-sex cigarette

Is attached to no politics

I dare not open the window

For he is so hypnotized

It is the man I\'m speaking of

And that man is you;

Carry your secrets all the way to Delaware

For you and your cigarette

Shall live happily ever after

And I shall die

Alone.

With traces of lipstick

On dark treaded jeans,

I am able to open up my confessions

To you;

To kill your cigarette

Would be a bore

I am not embedded to you--

For your bed smells like a bar

And my heart is filled with tar,

Forevermore I am living on the skids

Were you deprived of cigarettes as a kid?

Or is the romance that deep?

For I am chopped liver here...leave me be

My emotions are farther from you

Than I\'ve ever imagined

Like Madonna, I am a material girl

Living in a material world;

But only in a song.
