At first glance
She had me complete
My every ounce of being
Of heart and soul, I speak
I, just a young lad of ten
On a journey I could not foresee
Though unchained I lay motionless
Captivated by her endless beauty
Although fate would take her away
The best of me she took with her
I could not honestly commit
My heart to another
The lonely years came and went
With barely a worthy lass
For a benchmark so high
No one else could pass
Strolls down Memory Lane
Always with her in sight
She could light the darkest of rooms
Outshine all the sky’s starlight
A smile to turn the Earth
For all its days
Eyes so beautiful
To hypnotize a magician’s gaze
And now here I stand
So many years later
Still my heart in her custody
Forever my heart’s curator
Now, I’m an old man
My mirror stares back at me
But, I’m a happy old man
As happy as I can be
