The Bare Tree
I sat under the bare tree for so long
That I forgot about the shade and the leaves,
I forgot about the blossoms and the breeze
Until you came by & stood over me
Noticing my frozen existence
Bringing me back to life
With your sweet warm breath
Awakening longings in me
Making me realize my worth
That I must gather myself and move on
To look for that shady tree, by a clear blue stream
That I had always longed for
To all those women out there
Tending their trees with hearts and tears
And watching it die over the years
Give up on the fruitless soil you hear
You can’t make him love you if his hear isn’t there
