No animals were injured in the making of this poem.

When I was 10 I was a warrior.
I used to always play marbles for keeps.
I don’t know how many snake eyes and aggies
I lost in the play ground. But I never shed a tear.
Even romance was no problem.
I “like liked “  Sandra Richardson and one
day I got up enough courage to tell her how I felt.
I had a meat pie for lunch and marched into her
classroom.
I walked up to her desk and took a deep breath.
“Sandra I love you. I would climb the highest mountain
for you. Even though I am scared of heights.
I would swim the widest river for you.
Even though I can’t swim. You are worth it.”
I looked around and everyone was laughing.
Sandra just put her head on the desk and shook her head.
The teacher escorted me out of the room
and I had to wait for my Mother to take me home.
We walked passed Sandra’s classroom on the
way out and she waved at me with a big smile.
Time went by like a steam train and I never saw
her again but I like to think she remembers me.
