I had to ‘phone a company,
The car insurance needed cancelling.
So there I was on the ‘phone,
The voice said,
“If you want this press one,
If you want that press two,
If you want the other press three”.
I pressed three but not realising,
Realising that I pressed the number,
The number that meant waiting,
Waiting for eternity.
The music played
Again and again and again.
The voice came on the ‘phone,
“Your call is important to us”.
While I was waiting
The thought came to me
That in this time,
This time I was waiting,
I could have cooked,
Cooked a risotto.
Half an hour of my life wasted,
Wasted waiting on the ‘phone!
