Ethan Daniel

Carved in memory

When you were mine I never wanted more.

It’s a feeling of certainty you know.

Like a new soldier and his love for war,

Or serenity of a warm plateau.

The flame of our love intertwined for now,

What you don’t understand seeing him there.

Hand in hand in the place I once knew well.

That My head is a forest and you’ve carved

Your name into every tree. Yet you now

Ablaze the shelter above we called home.

When you were mine I thought I had it all.

It’s a feeling of certainty you know,

Without you the soldier no longer fights,

The flora will not grow under starlight.

In all the ways there is to love you, I

Loved you -
