Introverted Sage

Unknowing Me

Look at you.. sitting over there
No make up on, unkempt hair
And you wonder why they stare.
May be the clothes you wear.
Crown of a heathen with skin so fair.
Did you think that you were rare?
It\'s all in your head
No one really cares.

Blank stares, like a shock to the system.
I smile back and ask do they want to take a picture - to take it with them.
Wide eyed, look and see the child crying inside
You\'ve been trying to hide.

Afraid to be seen, terrified of what that could mean.
Pick at these wounds some more
And wash me clean.
Everything
Those memories bring
Makes me cling to the unknown in me.

Do they see what I see, when I look into their eyes.
Reflections can hide fake smiles and deep gutteral cries.
Pressing on my pride.
Circumstance making it harder and harder to hide.
Feel the fire burning
Reflect what\'s kept inside.

Saved from myself.
Trials and lessons
Wisdom is wealth.
My Me, pulled back down from the shelf.
