I stand in the dark of night
When the stars are bright
And question my perception of life
Attempting to resolve misconception
Through reflection
Needing to be far, far away
From here and now
I hold out a thumb
And hitch a ride on a cosmic wave
I drift from the infinitesimally small
To the infinitely huge
And realize my miniscule part
In the vastness of it all
As I drift I meditate, contemplate
Until I am one with the universe
And when my sojourn ends
The world is in focus
I come home, blissfully alone
I see the world now
Through different eyes
I find my perspective
And manage my crisis of perception
If only for a little while
