VANITY UPON VANITY

A day like this will come
When man will surrender all,
Whether prepared or unprepared
Man must take a bow.

Daily man hustles and bustles
Under the scorching sun,
All in a bid to make money
Cupidity lives in skirts and trousers.

In the grave, no grace,
Where are thy money, beauty and cars?
Your certifications and accolades,
You must leave behind.

Where are the properties
You acquired legally and illegally?
Where are thy titles:
Prof. Dr. Chief, Apostle, Rev. Pastor...?

Death, a necessary evil,
The vehicle of man\'s transition
To a higher glory or gory,
There\'s no escape route.

In the grave, man is alone with nothing
Where are thy friends and foes?
Where are thy breasts and buttocks?
Man is left at the mercy of termites.

In the grave, no religion
The rich and the poor
Share the same bed
Vanity, all is vanity.

Many souls will testify,
When the Books of life and death
Are opened,
Man will either rejoice,
In heaven or hell.
