The Mines

Intro: this is a story from a Privileged child who was blessed with gifts and joys, who was told of pains and sufferings from and man eight times his age and a lineage forever more. This story entails the pains and sufferings that of a coal miner, Wales.

The Rooster Crows as men and boys wake

For their wives and lives were always at stake

Dawn arises as boots and coats are put on

And the thick black clouds cover what was the sun

The School starts as men and boys walk

To what is now a hazardous talk

The Welsh valleys all now covered in black

For that is what the men and boys mined way back

The Breakfast was eaten as men and boys sit

In what was then called a great coal pit

Down the lift past rock and gravel

they gather shovels and get ready to travel.

The suns hits its peak as men and boys dig

With their skin and there boots as dirty as the pig

No sun to enjoy, just dark and dim light

And there shovels and coal and the will to fight

The Wives make tea as the men and boys arrive

For their shifts are over and there ready to dive

Into now what is called filthy filled tubs

then it was all they needed to get rid of there grubs

The Moon hasn\'t even cracked as men and boys rest

For there time tomorrow they need, they need at their best

As the day and cycles starts again

Do you think you would’ve enjoyed this pain
