Thursday is my special day
It is unique in every way
I visit friends with whom I share
The love of music in the air
In this place where they reside
They never feel the breeze outside
The walls and halls are all they see
But the sound of music sets them free
In the depths of music they will find
Links to memories left behind
And so it comes more readily
Recalling things that used to be
We assemble in a smallish hall
A big screen TV on the wall
And so on You Tube we will find
The songs and words to sooth the mind
Decades of music that they loved
Country, rock, folk and love
Artists that they still remember
From Hank Williams to John Denver
A little heavy metal for one
A rendition of YMCA for fun
“What a Wonderful World” Louis sang
And on his every word we hang
For ninety minutes of that day
We’re just a group of friends at play
They laugh and joke, tell stories to
Of things they remember they used to do
Carol Burnett would close her show
With a song that said it’s time to go
So we sing that song that does apply
A lovely way to say goodbye
My precious Thursday comes and goes
And I am the only one who knows
Of all the days of the week that be
How precious that Thursday is to me
