We Are Not Surprised

I feel their gaze in the morning

When I\'m looking in the mirror

I felt their eyes were on me

When I bought red and black streamers

I shoved the colors in their faces

My life was all but set

But I have a way of ruining things

And I hadn\'t clutched it yet

What I hadn\'t clutched was vague in that

I couldn\'t see it clearly

But it was concrete in the sense

That I knew I was missing it dearly

That moving target of success

The one that hated me

I killed myself at a chance to shoot....

But I missed, and then repeat.

What is it about me?

Must be some type of flaw

My life always ends up this way

But there is no tug in my jaw

It\'s all what I expected

It\'s what we knew deep down

Me and those eyes agree on it

As I perform for our town

And what we can agree on

We\'re certain and need no proof

But we are spoiled spectators so...

The evidence has no roof

No matter what I choose to do

No matter what lives I try on

I\'ll inevitably fail at all of them

and...

The crowd lets out a yawn
