The Cosmos Sonnet

The galaxies upon their mighty wheels
Spin through the sea that fills all empty space,
Their rigid march in bright array conceals
All narratives within their cold embrace,
The atoms whirl and flicker in the night,
Their darkened magic hidden from our gaze,
Singing songs with voices made of light
In choral bursts to set the world ablaze,
And we are here set about between,
A creature frail of limb but full of pride,
Convinced we stand apart in every way
Our intimate connections still denied,
Taking minor roles within the Play
Whose stately pace surrounds us every day
