Ten Small Poems 5
It’s impossible to describe a natural view
such that everyone sees it from the same purview.
A fragrance is neither an odor nor a smell.
The first is heavenly
the other two are straight from hell.
The universe is expanding, and yet still breeding stars.
It’s like driving your car with your wife and three kids in it
and she’s pregnant with number four.
Every mob of Geese
no matter how tightly formed
has one doubtful Duck.
I learned to have patience
while waiting for a flu shot.
I learned to hate patients
while giving f-*&^%g flu shots.
When you’re on a voyage, you’re “at sea.”
When you’re “at sea.” you’re “lost.”
When you’re “lost,” you can’t be found.
Which is why you took the voyage in the first place.
The Earth is spinning like a ballerina, on her axis.
The Moon sits like a patron with only one face, staring.
The Sun looks down and wonders,
”Maybe I should turn off the lights.”
Time does not exist, it is only an existential marker.
Water is the place where life began, yet I can not swim.
I can not dance, sing, or play an instrument.
Yet, I love being by the sea and listening to music.
Are we sure about the water thing?
I keep hearing that books will disappear.
This means the end for every Book Club.
So, what will women do
on the second Tuesday of every month?
