Meera Mere

She said she\'d be free

She\'d wear the chains loose,
But still they\'d sting,

She would break the anklets,
But the shackles would survive.

She\'d strip the veil from her eyes,
Yet shadows would cling.

She\'d burn the ropes to ash,
But the scars would still sing.

She’d run from the cage,
But the bars in her hand would bite.
