DeadRose

Roses in fall.

brown and rich, the season is right

for colder nights, hands curled around

pumpkin spice coffee, mother’s cinnamon bread

cookies frosted, pressed gingerbread.
children will soon be about,

hunting us all one by one for candy. Scary creatures…

The sun leaves us quicker now, but i do not mind,

for i can sit outside without being eaten by bugs alive

trees let go leaves unfurl and gracefully descend,

now signaling the long summer\'s end.

wind breathes out big gusts of sighs.

pools of golden form as the day drags by.

Oh dear acquaintances who longed for fall

let me tell you, i don\'t prefer it that much at all

though it brings a sense of serenity

what I long is early spring - the new roses melodies.

but for now, a bouquet, i will make do

fix up something with what already grew.

Grab the stem, cut away

Flower for another day

Pressed between pages dry in array

Flower for another day
