Birthday Card to Myself (Written on My Birthday)

To me? I think that’s right,

It’s just that I have changed my sight,

a vision that had simple beat, has turned so sour; down the street,

I now fake smile, to fit in, my mind-forged deeds; kill every sin,

lo’ in the real; I take such ease, to profit from useful hypocrisies,

thus, please reflect on what’s been done, to reclaim happiness in the sun,

monster I’m not; there is some good, please be kind in neighbourhood,

prison cell is limitation; so’s train platform “liberation”; thus

please remain, but not the same, for far too long I’ve drowned in pain,

so, here’s my wish unto myself, keep up joys, for my health,

both in coin, in mind, and form, it doesn’t matter about the swarm,

I care for you, as you are me, look at the mirror; and you will see,

all our pasts; crying so, telling us to step in tow,

our voices act as birthday bumps, relight heart’s fire, hear the pumps,

and with all this, I am surely through, happy birthday, me and you.
