Haiku - from Hold the Darkness Close

21

sky stretched overhead

waters gathered below land

earth rose to greet them

22

land brought forth new life

trees plants seeds all in due time

earth green with promise

23

sun ruled the bright day

moon guarded the quiet night

stars marked time’s rhythm

24

waters teemed with life

birds soared across endless skies

motion filled the world

25

beasts walked upon land

wild and free each in its kind

breathing earth’s great song

26

then God breathed deep love

humankind rose in Her image

male and female called

27

to live and to care

to be in Divine likeness

bearing light and grace

28

world in its fullness

God saw and knew it was good

very good indeed

29

evening to morning

creation’s quiet song rose

echoing pure joy

30

eyes fixed on the light

horizon of hope ahead

I walk forth with faith
