Christmas Will Pass Them By.
We all gather around full of Christmas joy and cheer.
Preparing to celebrate the most selfish time of the year.
Obsessed by our own desires, wishes, greed’s and needs.
Sense of fulfilment and achievement we need to feed.
Cocooned within in our social and family bubbles.
Not giving a second thought to anyone else\'s troubles.
Table bulging with food, pile of presents under the tree.
Gathered together with all our friends and family.
We give a collective sigh to those adverts on the television.
Remind us of those in need and asking for a donation.
A moment our conscience is pricked, so we pour another drink.
The pang of guilt disappears as quick as the eye can blink.
We wallow in our luxury and take our riches for granted.
For millions of people who Christmas is not what they wanted
For them it will not be the season of plenty and goodwill.
No decorated trees to sit around and joyous stories to tell.
There will be no indigestion because they have eaten too much.
No beautifully wrapped presents handed out with a loving touch.
So, as you prepare for this year\'s wonderful festivities.
Think of those and do something for those really in need.
The ones whose homes have been bombed.
Those constantly living in fear of the gun.
Those whose families have died.
Those whose rivers have run dry.
Those starving under the burning sun.
Those whose towns and cities have all gone.
Those who risked their lives in a bid for freedom.
Those who watched the death of all their young.
Those who in the cold sleep on the streets.
Those who suffer in silence too scared to speak.
Those who never have a right to choose.
Those who have nothing left to lose.
Those who hope has long since gone.
And for those who spend Christmas on their own.
Go on, with a little giving here and there.
Someone who really needs it could have a touch of Christmas cheer.
