A Battle Between Heart and Mind

My head whispers softly, a reasoned plea,
\"Let her go, set her spirit free.
Even love must bow to time’s cruel flow,
And sometimes, the truest love is letting go.\"

But my heart erupts, fierce and wild,
A tempest roaring, raw and unstyled.
\"How dare you speak of such retreat,
When her presence makes my world complete?\"

The mind retorts, calm yet firm,
\"A love unreturned will only squirm.
Can you not see the weight you bear,
When love becomes a one-sided affair?\"

The heart screams louder, drowning thought,
\"Did you love her truly, or was it all for naught?
Would you not fight \'til the last breath escapes,
To hold her close, to bridge the space?\"

And there I stand, torn in two,
Between what is wise, and what feels true.
The mind seeks peace, a gentle release,
The heart yearns forever, no thought of cease.

Oh, life’s cruel paradox, sharp and deep,
Where love and reason collide and seep.
To let her go, or hold her tight,
Both feel wrong, neither feels right.

So I linger here, lost in the fray,
Hoping for dawn to light the way.
For when the heart and mind agree,
Perhaps that’s when I’ll find what’s truly free.

I’ll wait until death calls for me,
For only then might I finally see—
Whether love was meant to fade or stay,
Or if real peace will come my way.
