Musings on a morning walk in the snow

Early morning, it’s still dark

I venture out for my walk

Only the glow of a street lamp

And the lights on my vest

To illuminate my way

As I walk snow is falling

And all is quiet

Here and now

I see my footprints in the pristine snow

No one has been here before me

Just me and the thoughts in my head

That\'s all that exists

Here and now

I can hear the snow as it lightly pelts

The big furry hood of my coat

My favorite music plays on my phone

Melodiously surrounding me

Here and now

My shoes bearing down on this carpet of white

Slip slightly beneath my weight

And I must be more careful as I go forward

I stick out my tongue and taste the snow as it falls

Giant skeletons of trees stand guard as I pass by

A bright red cardinal has come to sit in a barren bush

The stark white background framing his beauty

Here and now

I reach my turning point and as I head for home

The footsteps I’ve left in the snow

Are rapidly fading as it continues to fall

And soon it will be as if I was never here

Later this morning the storm will hit with full force, or so they say

But all is peaceful and white

Here and now
