Sleep won\'t take me yet

I can’t sleep, knowing of the times to come.

The making of the greed of some.

I hope it pleases them,

To see the damn, they have undone.

The fear of millions permeates the air,

As their lungs cry out with despair.

These next four years dark and unknown,

As many are pulled from their homes.

A criminal in a seat of power,

And the country turning to a darker hour.

It is not just one group he seeks to persecute,

While he tries to make his word absolute.

The lies he spread, the hate he sows,

A nation divided, where hatred grows.

The tales he spread, the fear he feeds,

Sowing division, ignoring needs.

We knew a nation like this once before,

One that played its civilians even more.

I fear this is where this man tries to lead,

Our nation\'s dirt path, down these dark deeds.

But hope, though shaken, will not break,

For change is born when people wake.

Through the silence, voices will rise,

To challenge the truth, to his lies.

My hope is clinging yet,

That our nation won’t bend to this threat.

Even still my head feels numb,

As I can’t sleep, knowing of the times to come.
