Sunrises through the blinds

Sunburnt shoulders, kissing highway lines, Radio static, frequencies that remind me Of what once was and what could have been.

Cherry cola, sticky and sweet, on your skin, I taste it on your chest, Humming along to the summer heat, Fragile these moments when we agree to disagree.

Now the coffee cups are empty, And unanswered questions plague me, Sunrises through the blinds.

City lights blur in the rearview glass, Where am I going? How long will this one last?

I am a phantom of summer nights I imagined but never had. They linger in the air, A phantom warmth against my skin, A ghost of laughter on my lips.
