Gewar

Dried-out grass

Dried-out grass and leafless trees,
Cold, still air burns through my skin,
A lone blackbird seeks out seeds,
To the gray sky, silence screams.
I remember—I’ve been here,
I could never stand and leave,
No one ever came for me,
Nothing changes, time is still.
Dried-out grass and leafless trees,
This is all I’ll ever see.
