Yesterday\'s embers

Black burnt out coals, a past life strewn upon the ground
Once a king, leaf gowned, now with crumbling ashes crowned
This naked form burnt, free in smoke, climbs like birds
Ashen white with fire\'s age, liberated of superfluous dry words
Spent, its kind warmth, reminder of frigid nights gone
A forgotten debt of comfort lost, in morning\'s yawn of dawn
