Aging
You know you’re getting old when -
You spend more time getting well
than being well.
The TV doesn’t work and you know
it’s because you did something to the remote.
You spend more time
inside than out.
Your physical therapist feels obligated
to remember your birthday.
You’re awake more at night
than during the day.
You have trouble remembering
who is still alive and who isn’t.
You do as the Doctor says
and drink eight glasses of water a day.
Then, wonder why you spend so much time in the john.
You go to the mail box
and remember today is Sunday.
The workers at the hospital pass you in the corridor
and wave.
