If I was a tree

I would be a pine

Standing strong and tall

One of many trees

Staying green throughout fall

I would have many holes

For squirrels and birds

To nest and shelter in

Mark my words

My branches

Would stretch far and wide

Providing relief

From the storms outside

As the clouds part away

On sunny days

I would reach out my branches

And bask in the sun’s rays

If I was a tree

There would be no sorrow

No bills to pay

No worrying about tomorrow

But how could a tree

Truly be happy

If it knew what it was like

To be a man?

With legs to walk with

And ears to hear with

Eyes to see

All the beauties of the world

I’d be rooted in place

From birth to death

Stuck in space

Would it be better

To escape all worries

But miss out on all

The wonders of the world?

I don’t think so

But all I know is

If I was a tree

I would be a pine
