Orions pen

Solitude my brother

I took a walk in the abyss

and amongst the nothingness I saw a man

Hunched over, decrepit, a familiar face

So I went to take a closer look

Upon this remembrance I stumbled

How could I have forgotten you?

One of my oldest companions

I know its you, solitude !

What kept you in this darkness ?

\"You\"

What locked you away for so long ?

\"You\"

A moment of indifference turned into one of regret

A soul as broken as mine, a friend I could easily forget

He\'s always been there , I didn\'t realise yet

He\'s been quietly waiting, its time to repay my debt

Everyone knows of solitude

Most pretend they don\'t

They neglect him, fear him

To mask what they know will happen if they wont

Yet this man i see before me

Is a sight to behold

A toughened shell of compassion and care

Forced to wither and grow old

He was there when I was lonely

He was there amongst my friends

He waited for me because he knew

I would acknowledge him soon enough

To solitude, I\'m sorry

We are now brothers in arms

I take you by the hand and we walk as one

The times I thought of you as weak, they are all gone

I finally understand

You aren\'t the villain

You aren\'t the enemy

You were misunderstood

We took a walk in the abyss

Walking as one

Wondering who we\'d meet next

As we fade into the dark
