Sleeping Through Alarms

my little boy always gets
sleep for hours at a time.
He didn\'t wake up yet,
escaping the day like a crime.

my little boy tries to forget
why tonight he\'ll attempt to run.
He didn\'t wake up yet,
leaving his goals again undone.

my little boy wont let
a muscle twitch— nor a breath out.
He didn\'t wake up yet,
ignoring the alarm ringing loud.

my little boy used to bet
he\'ll outlive his older sister.
He knew them all the best—
her sorrowful eyes of glister.
