Riding the Canyons

Riding the canyons early morning

With the sun nipping at the cold of night

I lean into the turn, feel the wind

Slowly open the throttle and

Hang in there perfectly balanced

Between opposing forces

The parking lot at the rock store

Is already full of cooling off motorcycles

A smorgasbord of power and beauty

To be admired by the leather clad crowd

A little piece of heaven on earth

For the titillated motorcycle addicts

Riding the canyons is never

Just a Sunday morning outing

It is an otherworldly experience

A rollercoaster of pleasure and

Heart stopping excitement with

All the senses on overdrive

The daily grind and problems

Are shed like an old overcoat

No messages and mails

The mind free and uncluttered

All that counts and exists is

The road right here, right now
