I remember when the sun abandoned me,
Drifting further behind the heavy clouds.
I reached for the stars,
Hoping they would stay,
Hoping they wouldn’t leave me too.
But like the sun,
They faded behind shadows—
Dark as the grave,
Swallowing even the moonlight,
Leaving me lost in endless night.
I stood, frozen like a statue,
Realizing this might be my end.
What else was I waiting for,
Alone in this abyss?
So I lay down and closed my eyes,
For even the darkness
Had begun to hunt me.
I lay there for what felt like eternity,
Until a whisper of wind brushed against me,
Until a bird sang softly beside me.
Yet, I dared not open my eyes—
What if it was only a dream?
For all I had known was darkness.
But the song grew louder,
A melody warm and golden,
And with trembling fear,
I lifted my gaze.
Light—blinding, brilliant—
The sun had returned,
Its golden rays flowing like a river.
I rubbed my eyes,
Half-convinced I had passed into heaven,
But no—
I was still here,
Right where the sun had left me.
And now, it had come back,
To guide me forward,
To light my way,
And lead me to the place
I had always dreamed of.
