Calm into Calamity

The sea lay still beneath the skies,

A glassy blue with gentle sighs.

It kissed the shore with foamy grace,

A silent smile upon its face.

Its waves would dance in soft retreat,

And shimmer where the sky and sea meet.

With whispered breeze and sunlit gleam,

It lulled the world into a dream.

But clouds then stirred with dark intent,

And winds around the waters bent.

The waves grew wild, the peace was torn,

The sea no longer soft, but sworn.

It lashed the coast with wrathful might,

And swallowed ships beneath the night.

The homes once safe along the sand,

Were broken by its vengeful hand.

So calm may charm, and storms appall—

The sea holds beauty, yet may maul.

Its grace deceives, its rage is true,

Not all that shines is gentle too.
